On the Road from Italy: Touring Coastal Tuscany

At Fonte di Foiano, Paolo and Simone are spending this season attending to the trees. The pruning begins in February or March, and the tree branches are pruned to allow for the sea breezes and sunlight to pass through the branches. From the estate, one can see the expansive coast with the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Visiting the olive groves at Fonte di Foiano with Simone di Gaetano, and Paolo di Gaetano. Filippo Alampi of Fattoria Ramerino (in green) joined us.

Dine on an amazing lunch at the vegetarian restaurant on the property, Ristorante Agrituristico La Casa Degli Ulivi. This breathtaking restaurant opened last year under the direction of Paolo and Simone’s sister, Beatrice, together with Chef Sara.

We recommend that all visits in the Bolgheri area include a stop at Fonte di Foiano for a visit to the Oliveto and a very satisfying meal at Ristorante Agrituristico La Casa Degli Ulivi.

The amazing soup below, was featured at Enoteca Tognoni in Bolgheri. In the simplest terms it was chick pea soup, but the presentation and the Fonte di Foiano IGP Toscano Extra Virgin olive Oil elevated this fabulous meal.
